Formed in May 1998, THE VICE GIRLS, consisting
of Miss Veronica Velcro, Miss Clit-O'Ris and Miss Cheree Bliss,
a.k.a. James Cunningham, Jason Finch and Stephen Beech aimed
to bring fun, frolics and fabulous frocks to liven up the
Chesterfield gay scene.
Originally formed to do a one-off performance to celebrate the
launch of Bank Holiday Monday Gay Nights at Club X-Cell. The
Vice Girls have gone on to become a regular feature of the
Chesterfield scene, appearing at most of its venues over the
last five years.
In 1999, The CASH Project invited the girls to perform at
their annual Beach Party held at Marsdens Bar. This show was
the beginning of a now long-standing relationship between the
girls and the project. The Vice Girls and The CASH project
have become inextricably linked to the point where every show
is done in conjunction with the project with a view to helping
spread their message across Chesterfield, and, wherever possible,
raise funds to help their work across the rest of North Derbyshire.
As a result of this partnership, their performances at Time Nightclub,
at the now annual Foreplay event with CASH have become the highlight
of the Chesterfield Gay Calendar. From lost wigs to huge water cannons,
the girls have never failed to deliver a handbag full of laughs at
every performance.
Shortly before the first FOREPLAY event, however, tragedy
struck when Miss Cheree Bliss unfortunately decided to hang
up her stillies and pack up her lippy. The remaining girls,
showing true showbiz spirit decided ‘the show must go on’
and went on to perform to one of their biggest crowds.
However, Veronica and Clit decided The Vice Girls were
always meant to be a trio…
And so when it came to the 2001 Foreplay 2 event, the girls
decided to seek out a new member. After hunting high and
low, they hit upon a stage regular in the form of Miss Ethel
Shagnasty. Ethel quickly signed up to the group, and to
Foreplay 2, which went on to produce the legendary Moulin
Rouge routine!!

The girls have gone into performance overdrive in the last few years
with Foreplays 3 and 4, and a new Eurovision event, Euro-Vice. Their
Christmas shows, Stocking Fellas certainly got Santa warmed up and their
fifth birthday show in 2003 brought the house down!
Check out our new section,
showography to relive some of our and your memories... It
just shows how old we are getting! And more outrageous!
In 2005 Ethel left the group, and now Miss Clit and Miss Veronica
have decided to go it alone. In fact they have joked that they are
following the fortunes of the group they have emulated [and mimed to]
so much... Bananarama!
In 2005 and throughout 2006 Veronica too time out from the group performing
both solo and as part of the infamous Ladyboys of Via Fossa in the heart of
Manchester’s Gay Village. This was topped off with Veronica being crowned
Queen of Manchester Pride.
But never fear! The split rumours were simply that – rumours! The girls kicked
off their international career performing in Gran Canaria in Spring of 2007,
and currently can be found planning their Chesterfield comeback for FLAUNT at
Livingstones in October… with a return to the fold of Miss Ethel!
Definitely life in those old girls yet as they speed towards the TENTH anniversary!
An exciting new era for the girls we have come to love and loathe in equal measure!
